SteamWorld Heist is a turn-based tactical strategy game developed by Image & Form and published for digital release (with physical editions distributed via partners like Limited Run Games) on the PlayStation Vita. Set in the expansive SteamWorld universe, the game swaps the mining tropes of its predecessor SteamWorld Dig for a swashbuckling space-western narrative centered around robot outlaws struggling to survive amidst corporate and royal faction wars.
While combat is turn-based, movement and firing break away from traditional RNG grid percentages. When a character takes their turn, you position them behind cover and manually aim their guns using laser sights, allowing you to pull off incredible trick shots by bouncing bullets off bulkheads and metallic walls. As you clear procedurally generated starship levels, you recruit diverse crew members, upgrade specialized gear, and collect stylish hats plucked straight off enemy heads.
